Scope of Vision 2021 for justice

The UAE has set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure its performance against its targets of 2021 to achieve safe public and fair judiciary. They are:

• Reliability of police services
• Average response time to emergencies
• Road traffic death rate per 100,000 people
• Judicial system efficiency
• Sense of security.

Ministry of Justice’s 2017-2021 strategic plan aims to:

1. Instil the culture of innovation at work environment.
2. Providing administrative services in accordance with highest standards of quality, efficiency and transparency
3. Facilitate the customer’s mission to reach justice and support the partnership of the ministry on local and international level and extend legal acknowledge
4. Build a modern penal system that helps to keep the security and personal rights
5. Support the specialised judiciary that is based on knowledge and institutional excellence that ensure independence and improvement
6. Contribute in the preparation of laws and legislations that satisfy society needs for the future.

Ranking on justice and safety

According to Global Competitiveness Report 2017-2018 issued by the World Economic Forum, the UAE is amongst the safest countries in the world. Here are the UAE’s ranks in the various sub-pillars:

• Business costs of terrorism - 7
• Business costs of crime and violence - 4
• Organised crime - 7
• Reliability of police services - 5.

In the WJP Rule of Law Index 2017–2018 Report (PDF), the UAE is first in the MENA region and 32^nd globally for its fair and transparent judiciary system.
